en عمومى General پژوهشي Research <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:120%"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span lang="TR" style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:120%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">This study determined the susceptibility profile and multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index of <i>Edwardsiella tarda </i>obtained from farmed fish in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria. 30 isolates were obtained from 30 catfish samples from the major fish market in Ilorin Metropolis. It was observed that the Isolates showed resistance to tetracycline (100%), </span></span></span><span lang="TR" style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:120%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">ampicillin</span></span></span><span lang="TR" style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:120%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""> (100%), cefotaxime (100%) and </span></span></span><span lang="TR" style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:120%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">ciprofloxacin (97%). <i>Edwardsiella tarda</i> isolates were entirely susceptible to</span></span></span><span lang="TR" style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="line-height:120%"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""> Gentamycin (100%) while also showing varying levels of susceptibility to Enfloxacin (77%), Norfloxacin (67%), Sulphamethoxazole (50%), Composulphonamides (23%) and Chloramphenicol (10%). The isolates showed an intermediate range of susceptibility to Chloramphenicol (90%), Composulphonamides (77%), Sulphamethoxazole (50%) and Ciprofloxacin (3%).
